Surface Preparation:

Begin by ensuring the application area is thoroughly dry and in stable condition. The surface must be free from contaminants such as dust, oils, and grease that may hinder adhesion. Remove all laitance and surface treatments, and roughen surfaces by mechanical scabbing to enhance bonding. It’s crucial that all surfaces are free from dust and thoroughly clean before applying the primer. Additionally, turn off underfloor heating at least 48 hours before and after application. When applying Adroit Backer Coat on a calcium sulphate screed, follow the above condition and also the below condition. It is significant that calcium sulphate screeds are dry and below 75% RH, as these screeds are prone to surface laitance and should be mechanically abraded to remove the weak layer.

Apply the product using a brush or roller, scrubbing it well into the surface to avoid pooling. Allow it to fully dry. For multiple coats, ensure each coat dries completely before applying the next.

ADROIT BACKER COAT should always be diluted before use.

  • For the 1st coat, mix 3 parts water with 1 part primer.
  • For the 2nd coat, mix 1 part water with 1 part primer.
  • Very absorbent subfloors will require a 3rd coat at 1 part water/1 part primer. Under good drying conditions, the product should be ready for an additional coat after 1-2 hours.

Apply 1 coat neat.

Following these steps ensures optimal preparation and application, providing a robust foundation for your project.
